Our school grounds poem

Lesson: English

Class: Lower Key Stage 2: 'The Hedgehogs' Year: 2013 - 2014

Year 3 and 4 have been exploring the school grounds and studying a variety of poems.

Inspired by the views and sounds, they created their own poem using expressive language:

Our school grounds

The daisies flutter their petals in the refreshing wind,

Listening to the bell ringing for a wedding to commence,

Equipment glittering in the distance,

Balls bouncing to and fro,

Goalposts sparkling above my head,

Branches waving,

Leaves scattered on the floor,

Acorns dancing off the trees,

Toadstools guarding the wildlife garden,

The bump like a hump on the camel,

Leaves cover the trees like a midsummers day,

as winter approaches they start to go away,

Butterflies glistening in the passing winds,

Our classroom, reaching for the sky.

Following this they experimented reading the poem using different volumes, tones and expressions, click on the attachment to hear their final version!

Well done year 3 and 4!
